Enchanting English Harbour!
If there’s one place in Antigua that really captures hearts, it’s English Harbour – and trust me, once you’ve been, you’ll see why I love it so much. This charming, historic little pocket on the island’s south coast is full of character, colour and a surprising amount of buzz for such a laid-back spot.
One of the best things? Everything is within walking distance – which is actually pretty rare in Antigua! You can wander from your hotel to a string of lovely bars, friendly cafes, boutique shops and brilliant restaurants without needing to jump in a taxi. The harbour itself is dotted with yachts of every shape and size (two of the world's largest superyachts were moored when I last visited). The atmosphere here is a bit yachty, slightly bohemian, a great mix of relaxed and glamorous.
Nelson’s Dockyard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just a 10-minute stroll away and absolutely worth a visit for the history, the views and the vibe. And if you're up for a little beach time, Pigeon Point Beach is about a 15-minute walk over the hill – manageable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness – and you’ll be rewarded with soft sand, clear water, and a chilled beach bar or two.

There are some gorgeous places to stay here too. South Point is sleek and modern, with harbour views and a fab on-site restaurant. The Inn at English Harbour is more traditional and tucked away in a lush, peaceful spot. And the Antigua Yacht Club Marina Resort is a relaxed, more budget-friendly option with many of the rooms offering fantastic views of the harbour.
Food-wise, you really are spoilt for choice – my favourites include:
- Colibri for a special evening, it’s dreamy; think fairy lights through trees, wonderful menu, and amazing cocktails,
- La Brasserie is my go-to place for breakfast - good coffee, fresh croissants and local fruit juice whilst you watch the world go by from your harbour side seat,
- another evening favourite is Incanto this Italian restaurant is accessible by boat from Nelson's Dockyard (they'll come and collect you with their water taxi) it offers romantic waterside dining and a beautiful authentic Italian menu,
- and last (for now) Catherine’s Café at Pigeon Point is a must for barefoot beachside lunches and wonderful cocktails
