Beach life
From Negril’s 7 mile beach in the West to the rugged Portland coastline in the East, Jamaica’s beaches are world class. If your holiday heaven is lazing on the beach with a Rum Punch, Jamaica has lots of options for you.
Activity
If you want a break from lying on the beach, you are spoilt for choice in Jamaica! Take a raft trip down the Martha Brae River, visit the Appleton rum plantation, enjoy some horse back riding, or climb a waterfall! Jamaica has lots of options for a more active holiday.
Mountain life
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jamaica’s Blue Mountains are a dramatic backdrop to much of the island. Take a drive into the Blue Mountains, be awed by the tropical scenery and enjoy a cup of world famous Blue Mountain coffee. Or, if you’re feeling energetic stride out on a guided hike to The Peak and take in the spectacular views; on a good day you can see all the way to Cuba!
Bond, James Bond ...
Ian Fleming famously penned many of his Bond novels from his Jamaica home, GoldenEye. You can now soak in some of the vibe with a stay GoldenEye. The Bond links don't stop there, much of the first Bond movie, Dr No, was filmed in Jamaica and if you visit Kingston you are sure to see a few familiar backdrops. Bond movie shoots have returned to the island across the years, including most recently with No Time To Die. Those lush island scenes where we meet again with Daniel Craig's Bond are filmed in and around Port Antonio, Portland.
Top Tip - be sure to order a martini, shaken not stirred, to sip whilst you enjoy the stunning Caribbean sunsets.

If time allows, include Kingston as part of your Jamaica holiday.
'There is magic in Kingston town’ and oh so many things to do. So many we can’t list them here! To whet your appetite;
- a visit to the Bob Marley museum at Bob's former home on Hope Road is a must
- take a drive out to Port Royal and walk in the footsteps of Horatio Nelson, make sure you visit The Giddy House
- pay a visit to historic Devon House (we'd recommend you have an I-Scream, best ice cream ever!)
- wind your day up with dinner at one of Kingston’s many wonderful restaurants
Kingston has lots of great hotel options, or you could take to the hills and stay at the luxurious Strawberry Hill and enjoy the stunning views over Kingston.
If you are looking for a holiday that is removed from the touristic hustle and bustle, then Portland fits the bill.
Back in the 1930’s and ‘40’s, Portland was a favourite with Hollywood’s glitterati. Port Antonio’s marina is named for actor Erol Flynn who fell in love with the area when his yacht ran aground on Portland’s Navy Island – or at least, so the story goes. He loved it here so much that he bought a 2000 acre estate and set up home. Flynn reportedly described Portland as “more beautiful than any woman I have ever known” (and he is reputed to have known quite a few!).
The region remains largely unspoiled and the coastline just a few miles east of Port Antonio is breathtaking in its beauty. The highway hugs the coastline with ocean views from atop rugged cliffs interspersed with white sand bays. The beaches at Frenchman’s Cove and San San are simply stunning; in fact many say that Frenchmans is the best beach on the island. Head inland and you can enjoy hikes in the John Crow mountains, or river raft on the Rio Grande. If you’d prefer to be on or in the water there are opportunities for snorkeling, diving, deep sea fishing and coastal safaris back down at the ocean front.
When it comes to accommodation, Portland has something for everyone; from ECO hotels to luxurious villas. There are several excellent restaurants in the region, and a trip to Boston Bay ‘the home of jerk’ is an absolute mouthwatering must.
